The Power of Love and Service: My Encounter with Philippians 2

(Part 2 of "Holy Spirit Guidance for Entrepreneurs")

Reading from Philippians 2:4 (The Message Translation), these words leapt off the page:
"Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourself long enough to lend a helping hand."

This scripture powerfully reinforces the lesson the Holy Spirit first taught me:
Focus on the people. Serve others. Love them.

Created to Solve Problems: Our Divine Assignment

When we look back to Genesis 2, we see that man’s creation was driven by a need.
God needed someone to tend the Garden of Eden—and so He created man.
From the very beginning, we were created to solve problems.

It has never been God's desire for man to suffer or struggle. That's why He deposited unique gifts and treasures within each of us—designed to meet another person’s need.

We are all part of a greater puzzle, interconnected, and interdependent.
This is why Jesus said the greatest commandment is LOVE.

The Balance: Loving Yourself and Loving Others

However, serving others does not mean you lose yourself.
It’s not about people-pleasing or neglecting your own well-being.

The Bible says:
"Love your neighbor as yourself."
(Notice: not more than yourself, not instead of yourself — as yourself.)

Self-care is essential.
You cannot pour from an empty cup.
You must love yourself, invest in yourself, and nurture your own growth so you can serve your world effectively.

Building yourself through skill development, education, and personal growth is an act of love—both toward yourself and others.

Refine Your Gift and Serve It to the World

The gift inside you is raw and full of potential.
But raw gifts must be refined through learning, practice, and growth.

If you’re not intentionally investing in yourself, your gift remains hidden and unpolished.
And if your gift remains hidden, how can you bless others?

Focus with Purpose: Serve and Grow Simultaneously

When you focus on yourself, ensure it is with the goal of refining your gifts.
When you focus on others, ensure it is with the goal of serving them better through those gifts.

This divine balance is the heartbeat of a life well-lived:
Love God. Love yourself. Love others.
Grow your gift. Serve your world.

You were created on purpose, for a purpose.
And every skill you sharpen, every lesson you learn, every act of service you give—
is a reflection of God's love flowing through you.
Keep shining. Keep serving. Keep growing.
